Welcome to Katy
Around 30 miles from the busy and active metropolis of Houston, the city of Katy, Texas is well-known for its small-town charm and beautiful residential neighborhoods. The town is usually identified in two segments—the name “Old Towne Katy” pertains to the city proper name of Katy that was incorporated in the mid-twentieth century, while “Greater Katy” refers to the surrounding, unincorporated areas and residential communities as well.
Katy was reportedly named after the MKT Railroad that ran through its borders during its early settlement and has since grown into a vibrant city with a population of nearly 20,000 citizens. The town has also established several master-planned communities, in which residents have the luxury of nearly self-sufficient neighborhoods complete with amenities and town centers.
Many of the master-planned communities are relatively new developments, which means they offer everything from single-family homes to modern condominiums and apartments, all of which have been placed with convenience and ease in mind. Communities such as
Cane Island,
Grand Lakes, and
Firethorne were all built to cater to reflect the area’s natural beauty and cater to residents’ needs.

Mary Jo Peckham Park—which spans over 30 acres—provides access to trails, has a lovely pond perfect for fishing on lazy afternoons, and houses a large community center. The perfect verdant escape from urban life, the park is just one of many adored by locals and visitors.
