The Heights

A unique collective of artists with a strong community devotion

Welcome to The Heights

While Houston Heights—sometimes called Greater Heights—is a bustling community located in the northwest-central area of Houston, what is commonly referred to simply as “The Heights” includes a wider expanse of neighborhoods, such as Norhill and Woodland Heights.

The area was originally a streetcar suburb, intended for those who wished to live away from the densely-populated city of Houston. In 1896, Houston Heights was established as its own municipality but was later annexed by Houston in 1919.

Set apart from the active city center, Houston Heights is ideal for creative types and unique individuals looking for easy access to the city. Many are drawn to the diverse architecture of the residential areas, which include single-family homes in styles that range from Queen Anne, Folk Victorian, Craftsman, and several others. The houses here are as eclectic as the community, which makes finding the perfect fit a cinch.
